marcicat: that was easy (that was easy)

Ah, Inception. Just because no one sees it coming doesn’t mean the fic isn’t amazing. (I’m pretty sure I broke my goal of not reading Inception fic during NaNoWriMo on the first day of the month.) Here’s three I’ve particularly enjoyed this week (all Arthur/Eames):

Both Feet On The Ground, by andrealyn
(The one where Arthur and Eames get married on a job in London and don’t tell everyone until 25 years later.)
“No,” he says simply. “Eames is just a slacker. When you get married in a little chapel in London in front of one side’s parents, you don’t actually need to take five days off. You just need about five hours.”

tu es la belle et moi la bete, by tequilideas
(The one where Eames forges a dog and gets stuck that way for a while.)
Everyone looks so serious and Eames just kind of wants them to smile and maybe throw something for him. Failing that, Cobb could just pay him his share already so Eames can get out of here and bury it somewhere safe. Eames backtracks and reexamines that thought. “Oh,” he says.

JOB REQUIREMENTS, by mixtapestar
(The one where Arthur moves in with Eames for his internet connection.)
“Your internet password,” Arthur interrupts. He doesn’t have time for these games. “I need it.”

“Oh, of course. It’s Gallifrey, darling. G-A-”

“L-L-I-F-R-E-Y,” Arthur finishes, nodding. “All lowercase?”

Things I never expected would become topics of discussion in my nanonovel:

1. glitter crafts

2. the Mesozoic Era

3. scurvy

(Inquiring minds want to know: Will eating bananas prevent scurvy?)

(Answer: Hard to say; a banana contains about 8-9 mg of vitamin C, so you might have to eat a lot of them. Also, did you know that:

“Bananas are naturally slightly radioactive, more so than most other fruits, because of their high potassium content, and the small amounts of the isotope potassium-40 found in naturally occurring potassium. Banana shipments often set off the radiation monitors installed at US ports to detect illegal shipments of radiologic materials.”

Wow! Thanks, wikipedia, supplier of knowledge I wasn’t looking for, but still find cool!)
