why so harsh, camp nano?

A recent message from Camp NaNoWriMo informed me of this:

If you entered your novel info during the month of July with the intent to participate in August, you can apply those details about your project to the current month. Simply go to “My Novels” under Camper Profile, click into your novel and select Edit Novel Info. There you’ll find the option to set your month to August. Hit submit, and you’re set! (Note that this will only work for those novels with a zero word count. If you started on a novel in July, you won’t be able to switch the novel-in-progress over to August.)

Really, NaNo? Really? What if I entered my novel info in July intending to participate in BOTH months? You know, in the spirit of summer?

Am now considering dropping my word count to zero, swapping the month to August, and then popping in my current count again. Hmmm….
