workaday Wednesday
Feb. 12th, 2020 05:47 amOne of my absolute favorite things about The Untamed was Lan Xichen's thing where he would close his eyes for a few seconds in a sort of 'please grant me the strength to deal with this' expression.* Partly because it made me laugh Every Single Time, and partly because that is just 100% the Big Workplace Mood of 2020. Like, 'I'm just going to close my eyes for a second here, and maybe when I open them the universe will have started making sense again.'
Tangentially related, I feel like I spend a lot of time at work trying to not draw any attention to myself, which is really counteracting my goal of having better posture. (Clearly Lan Xichen was too tall to make the 'just don't be noticed' strategy work for him.)
[*Also, I thought it was really interesting in contrast to Lan Zhan's 'I'm not looking at you' strategy. Like, Lan Zhan was doing the 'I'm pretending you're not here' thing, and Lan Xichen was doing the 'I'm pretending *I'm* not here' thing. Classic sibling complementary coping mechanisms!]
