nano update day 7

Hmm, well, it was (un)surprisingly a bit difficult to hit the daily goal while on vacation. (But the vacation was awesome!) ((Shoutout to the Pages app on my phone for getting me at least some words every day!))

Word count as of last night: 8000

Yesterday's on-track word count: 10,000

That's -- close? Ish? My goal is to be back on track by 20,000. Probably manageable, although you know, it only really *needs* to be on track by 50,000, so there is that.

oh look, a Halloween miracle

I’m actually a little surprised that this fic took me two months to finish. I’d somehow jumbled up the time in my head to think it was all done in October.

But it’s finished now, so we’ll call it a win. This is the second chapter of Criminal Mastermind (cleverly titled ‘Criminal Mastermind part 2′) and it covers the second season of my AU version of Iron Man Armored Adventures.

Criminal Mastermind (part 2)

(or on AO3 — link goes directly to the new chapter)

I think this quote really sums up the story:
“Even if you decide to become a megalomaniacal power-hungry supervillain, we’ll still be here for you.”

ack!

August is almost over, and you know what that means! Racing to finish the current writing project by midnight tonight, while ignoring things like work, eating regular meals, or doing any of the exercise I really did plan to do this month.

Words written so far: 14000-ish? It’s still in a bunch of different files at this point.

Episodes left to cover: FOUR, EVEN THOUGH I CAREFULLY PLANNED FOR IT TO ONLY BE TWO WHAT IS THIS EVEN

Likelihood of actually finishing today: eh, not impossible

na no wri mo news (that’s 5 words, right?)

5 RANDOM THOUGHTS ABOUT NANOWRIMO 2012 SO FAR

1. I have reached that part of the story where I try to start wrapping things up, and then I can’t remember who said what when, or if I’ve already explained something earlier in the story.

2. Chris Baty’s pep talk was fantastic, as usual. The rest of nano’s messages were somewhat pep-less, also as usual. (For some reason, I don’t find being told ‘your novel is probably crap’ and ‘no one’s going to care if you don’t finish’ particularly inspirational.)

3. Thank you, Write or Die, especially for today. Your totally random and self-inflicted timers and color-changing screens really work for me, and I have no idea why.

4. I’m worried that I don’t have 5000 more words left in me.

5. During one of my writing breaks today, my cat threw up on my shoes. Thanks for that, cat. Way to bring some perspective to my day.

progress check

I didn’t actually finish the story last night, but I did bust out the all!caps summary of the finale as a sort of “placeholder of done-ness.”

In the grand tradition of basically all conflicts in my stories being resolved with the ‘it was all just a misunderstanding’ explanation:

AND NOW AUNT MAY IS TEMPORARILY IN CHARGE BUT DOESN’T REALLY UNDERSTAND ALL THIS NEWFANGLED TECHNOLOGY, SO SORRY ABOUT THE INCONVENIENCE, BUT MAYBE IF MR. LOKI COULD ASSIST IT COULD ALL BE SORTED IN TIME FOR DINNER?

AND IT WAS.

for real this time

Okay, wow, what just happened to this evening? I had plans!

I am now officially declaring this computer to be a tumblr-free zone until my current fic is DONE and POSTED.

(We’ll see how long this lasts.)

february hearts

My monthly email to myself! (I have confirmed that no one else was ever told to do this, but since my coworkers are regularly baffled by such computer amazements as the auto-fill feature, I’m not sure I trust their advice anyway.)

Leap year, seek year: where is the path I’m looking for? It still amazes me that I’ve reached a point in my life where my common reaction to things is to think, ‘well, I suggest prayer, and let the universe sort it out.’ More things on heaven and earth, truly.

Best of luck in the month of hearts and cookies!

Much love,
Marci

quote, because 500 words is better than nothing

It did sound like something that had to be seen to be believed. It also didn’t sound like the safest environment to ask Jesse to just pop them into, especially if they were going mainly for the entertainment value. “Did it look like they needed help?” Rachel asked. She sounded like she hoped the answer was yes. That, at least, would be a good excuse for showing up uninvited.

title fight

I’ve had some interesting times with my current fic, as evidenced by the titles I’ve considered along the way.

1. The “I Love You” Project

2. last request of the damned

3. Amen (to all that)

The file itself is saved as “not exactly fast and certainly not furious.” (Little did I know that would describe the writing process, as well as the content.)

Now I need a new title. Possibly one referencing sharks.
