*Not halting all forward progress at 10:30 am!
*Tossing the sticks off the balcony and onto the ground below! (There's a crew coming to do storm cleanup today, so this is actually a legit thing we've been told to do. You know, carefully.)
*Making some progress towards tidying up the Christmas gifts!
*Drinking coffee!
*Some other things!
*More things?!?!?
*Eat remaining avocado; put avocados on the grocery list
Monday... we meet again
Oct. 25th, 2021 06:53 am*I did not make enough nanowrimo notes yesterday to justify a 'Sunday six' post, but I'm working my way through a re-watch and at least making notes on that.
*Yesterday's adventure walk was great, except that afterwards I got a massive headache which has still not really gone away. Darn that fresh air and exercise!
*Good news: I already did one thing on today's list! Bad news: there are many other things on the list.
*The rain and headache are making me want to go back to sleep. I could put 'get more sleep' on today's list???
caturday chore day
Jul. 27th, 2019 06:54 amThere are times when I'm like 'heck yeah, dusting! I love having everything be dusted and it's so easy!' And then there's times when I get immense joy from moving 'dusting' to the done list week after week without actually doing it. There are times when I'm all 'I'll cook something, and then I'll have food all week!' And then there's times when I think 'but consider this -- you could eat cheese and crackers all week, and *not* cook anything!'
With most things, I cycle in and out of caring about and/or being willing to actually do them with enough consistency that they pretty much get done what I'd consider an adequate amount. [The one that became a major 'I'M NOT DOING THAT YOU CAN'T MAKE ME' was vacuuming (fine for years! then suddenly not), and so now I have a robot vacuum cleaner named JJ (Josie 2.0), and that's been better. ]
It's one of my favorite things about getting older, actually. When I was younger, and I started doing something and then stopped enjoying it, it felt like failure. Now it feels like 'hey, it's cool, I'll enjoy something else right now, and I'll like doing that other thing again someday.' I mean, I try to pay some attention to it, so that I can prod things along if it seems necessary, but the perspective of being able to see that I've done this before, and it worked out okay -- it's nice.
Sundays till Christmas: 3
Dec. 6th, 2015 07:51 amThat’s right — only two weekends after this before Christmas. That means only two weekends (and a day) to fit in those classic Christmas film choices like:
The Muppet Christmas Carol
Die Hard
Charlie Brown Christmas
Those are pretty much the only three on my must-see list this year, although there’s lots of other great ones that I’m sure will come up.
And of course reading lots of Christmas fic! I just checked my pinboard tag and it looks like there are a lot of good stories to be had.
Goal for the day: combine productivity and sloth for a fantastic day of pre-Christmas-ing!

So, apparently it’s Sunday. I am not entirely sure how this happened. I’m sure we were supposed to be having a four-day weekend, and somehow it feels like it has been only about 12 hours or so. And yet — Sunday!
Which means I am now at that tricky point of trying to figure out which things to determinedly power through on my to-do list, and which things to somewhat guiltily cross off without doing.
(Right now ‘get kitty litter’ and ‘go to the gym’ are looking like the former, while ‘vacuum the apartment’ is looking like the latter.)

Friday to-do list
Mar. 7th, 2014 09:35 am1. call THE MARKETPLACE (that’s right; get ready for THE MARKETPLACE: TAKE 2 later this weekend)
2. round up the cat for claw maintenance (try to remember which paw he wouldn’t let me do last time; start with that one)
3. change out of pajamas (optional)

my day in one picture
Jul. 13th, 2013 11:10 amThings I wish I was more motivated about:
*writing my June/July fic
*going back to work tomorrow
*anything other than sleeping and eating
How I feel when I try to motivate myself to feel more motivated:
Nope.

filed under ‘to do,’ subcategory ‘stuff’
Jan. 25th, 2013 03:14 pmFor reasons unknown, I sort of want tomorrow to be a ‘layabout reading and pinball’ day, which means getting all the weekend chores done today (Sunday is back-to-work day).
Still left to do:
-more laundry (egads, why did I pick *this* weekend to do so much laundry?)
-clean stuff, like dishes and dusty surfaces
-exercise (I would happily justify calling tomorrow a “rest day,” but only if I actually did something today)
-post stuff, like the mini-fic I’m pretty sure I wrote earlier this month
-work review (probably shouldn’t include the phrase ‘I’m writing this early so I can try to beat my pinball high score tomorrow…’)

being a grownup, a semi-successful day
Jan. 20th, 2013 10:04 pmMy tale of SATURDAY! (It doesn’t hold much promise as a grownup day, honestly. Saturdays just seem made for cartoons and pajamas.)
I had a list of Important Things To Do:
1. mail stuff
2. take stuff to the dump
3. go shopping to use my coupon
4. arrive back home in time to feed the cats
5. take down twinkly lights in my room
Achieving the list was Somewhat Successful.
1. Mailed one thing; realized 2nd thing had no stamp. Managed NOT to forget it along the rest of my errands.
2. Successfully navigated town “transfer station.” Accidentally broke one of the rules. (Apparently you’re not supposed to leave your car running? But the sign announcing this is outside! I was busy driving then!)
3. Shopped & couponed; successfully obtained DISHES. Very large store; felt like perhaps I could also cross “go for walk” off to-do list.
4. TOTAL SUCCESS; CATS HAPPY
5. Took lights down; realized they were never going to fit back in the original box. Took photo for LOLs. (Then realized I’d only left room for the tiny boxes in my storage space; am currently ignoring the issue.)
PICTURE EVIDENCE THAT THE BOX IS A LIE

Avoiding writing is an excellent way to increase productivity in other things. Cat’s claws? Trimmed. Laundry? On the drying rack. Taxes? Begun. Email? Tumblr? Check and check.
Writing?
Well.
No. (Not yet?)

obligatory weather post
Jun. 22nd, 2012 10:12 amI believe the technical weather term for our current status is “brain meltingly hot.”
Which is not to say I’m longing for winter, or anything. No way. More like it’s hard to see the benefits of doing anything except lounging in front of a fan, icy cold beverage close at hand.
(I keep reminding myself that I have things to do, like laundry, but so far I am not convinced.)

vacation day 3!
Jun. 14th, 2012 10:39 pmToday, shopping was achieved. (Clothing. Fun, but not fun at the same time. Sadly, no Captain America t-shirt yet. On the plus side, new work clothes!)
Also, I went outside, for a walk. So now I can stop feeling guilty about spending all my time inside.
What was not achieved? Finishing this story, which has now stretched ridiculously into an AprilMayJune fic.
GOAL FOR DAY 4: Finish the story!!!

for real this time
Jun. 6th, 2012 09:54 pmOkay, wow, what just happened to this evening? I had plans!
I am now officially declaring this computer to be a tumblr-free zone until my current fic is DONE and POSTED.
(We’ll see how long this lasts.)

weekend to-do-list
Apr. 12th, 2012 08:33 pmNormally I have Friday and Saturday off, but this week it’s just Friday. So: pre-weekending!
My laundry is sorted, my pinboard tags are up to date, and my music player is charged and ready to rock. As long as I don’t get MORE distracted by tumblr, I may have a relatively productive day off!
SUPER GOALS:
1. Be awesome.
2. Feel awesome.
3. Do awesome stuff.
ALSO THESE THINGS:
1. dust things that are dusty
2. wash dishes that need washing
3. budget like I’m a student again

merry merry to all
Dec. 24th, 2011 05:50 pm#8: go for a walk after dark to look at the lights
DONE! (and yeah, the lights on our street this year run the gamut from weird to weirder)
#9: bake something make hard boiled eggs
DONE! (eggs are healthier than baked goods, anyway, right?)
#11: write an Avengers holiday fic
NOT DONE! (but I’m up to 16 kittens*, and I’ve finally mentioned a holiday!)
The only other thing she had money riding on was whether or not Coulson was going to let Thor get away with lighting something on fire for Solstice.
[*On Written? Kitten! you get a new kitten pic every 100 words.]

why haven’t I read this?
Sep. 10th, 2011 12:02 pmLast weekend, when I was going through all my untagged bookmarks over at pinboard, I came across this:
Kind of the Same Way, by trinipedia
“When Clay Miller, the US President, goes into a coma, Jared Padalecki, a sweet-natured and caring Temp Agency operator who by a staggering coincidence looks exactly like the President, finds himself stuck in the role indefinitely. The corrupt and manipulative Chief of Staff, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, plans to use Jared to elevate himself to the White House, but he doesn’t count on Jared enjoying himself in office, using his luck and friends to make the country a better place and falling in love with the President’s personal assistant, Jensen Ackles.”
WHAT? It’s a J2 AU based on the movie Dave — what could be more awesome? (Only if they also sing ‘The Sun Will Come Out Tomorrow’ — that would make my day.) But I don’t know if they sing it, because I still haven’t read it!
