happy birthday to me!
*Happy birds at the bird feeder; happy cat curled up in her chair. <3
*Plenty of things to do inside, so no need to go out in the 'feels like -9 degrees' weather outdoors!
Wishing the very happiest of days to starandrea, and an even better year ahead! You’re like sparks and stars and rainbows every day! <3

It’s my birthday weekend! Yay! I don’t have much more to say about it right now! Here’s a picture instead!

Okay, I’ll admit, this one didn’t *exactly* spring into my head as a memorable quote. It’s my dad’s birthday this week, and I went looking specifically for birthday-related quotes. But this one is awesome! (And also memorable quote Monday has no actual rules, so there’s that…)
“Miss Potts would like to remind you all that your shouts of surprise should be genuine but not shocking.”

I have zero pinboard tags for The Emperor’s New Groove. AO3 has 33 listed works for The Emperor’s New Groove. Since I do not have today off from work, and did not think of this yesterday, I leave this as a placeholder and a reminder for myself — maybe check some of those out!
(As an actual fic rec, I liked Sending Out an S.O.S., by fauvistfly — Teen Wolf, worth getting the song stuck in your head.)

Yay birthdays! I’m a little astonished at how accepted it seems to be at my current job to take your birthday off from work. Everyone does it! So now it’s my birthday, and I’m taking the day off, and I’m all… what are you supposed to do when you take your birthday off?
(I’m actually meeting my mom for tea this morning, and then home for birthday dinner and cake this evening!)
Perhaps also a rewatch of The Emperor’s New Groove? (“It’s my birthday gift to me! I’m so happy!”)

There’s five days to go till my birthday, so here’s a birthday countdown:
5. What crazy national day falls on your birthday? Mine is ‘National Answer Your Cat’s Question Day.’ Apparently.
4. Thanks to the variability of the Chinese New Year in relation to the US New Year, I’ve never been clear on my Chinese Zodiac sign, but it appears to be Rooster.
3. The Birthday Horoscope Personality site recommends: “Learn to handle impatience.” (Easier said than done.)
2. On the other hand, the What Does Your Birth Date Mean site shares this wisdom: “You are an oddball.” (It’s like it knows me!)
1. Happy soon-to-be birthday to me!

[*brought to you from my 2013 planner]
January
*“Hope for all of us is hope for one of us.”
*MY BIRTHDAY!
*“So far January has been the month of the avocado.” … “On a disappointing note, I have not yet beaten last year’s high score for pinball.” … “Work continues to be work, which is why we get paid.” … “A cheese sandwich sounds good right about now.”
February
*“Lots of love for the month of love and hearts.”
*VERY SNOWY MONTH
*“I do love counting.” … “Something else to contemplate in all that meditation I’m not doing, right?” … “Today also marked possibly the most grown-up thing I have done in my life up till now — I bought lightbulbs for myself. Right there in the grocery store; it was shockingly easy.”
March
*“Even thought it looks the same outside as it did yesterday (cloudy), the feeling today is a promise that spring will come.”
*5 YEAR ANNIVERSARY AT WORK
*“What a long, strange month it’s been!” … “March also saw the start of the folder system at work.” … “I wish there was a way to explain to people that being a manager is not the same as being a magician.”
April
*“No big snowstorms should be awesome.”
*1ST EVER TRIP TO TRADER JOES
*“Always nice to run into acquaintances in the grocery store with a basket full of fruit and veg instead of chips and Oreos.” … “Skipping things is okay. It just happens that way sometimes.”
May
*“May this month bring green blessings, a bountiful crop of confidence and joy, a sense of gratitude and purpose, and a wellspring of good health.
*MOVIE MONTH, ALLERGIES, & STAFF APPRECIATION WEEKEND — SHOOTING, HIKING, & BASEBALL
*“We made it through spring without flooding or tornadoes.” … “I still feel like school should be ending and I should be getting summer vacation.”
June
*“As per usual, work is work and family is confusing, and the weather provides endless topics of conversation.”
*17 EXCLAMATION POINTS THIS MONTH
*“It’s been a month for talking, that’s for sure — mostly about the weather, it seems like. Hot, cold, sunny, rainy — it’s a good thing we don’t have cicadas up here (oh yes, it’s a cicada year too), or we’d never get any work done at all around the chatter.” … “My utter lack of ambition tends to make a lot of movie villains not make much sense to me. Why would you want to take over the world, instead of just — taking your gains (ill-gotten or otherwise) and going off to live a nice quiet life somewhere?”

*Four months ago, it was still 2012, and Christmas was just finishing.
*Three months ago, I had my 31st birthday.
*Two months ago, we were right in between winter storm Q and winter storm Rocky.
*One month ago, I was just starting my month-o-recovery from horrible food poisoning symptoms.
*And… one month from today will be my workplace’s annual employee appreciation weekend. This year we’re doing handgun training. Really.

Last night the weather forecast predicted 6 to possibly as much as 12 inches of snow. This morning — nope! Just a dusting, and now the sun is shining. Happy Birthday to me! No shoveling required!

I have one of these:
(The candle, not the waterfall. Though that is also awesome.)
I just can’t decide if I should start burning it before my birthday, or wait until the day itself?
(Also, I should probably get some kind of candle holder before there is actual flame involved.)

And Many More, by Arsenic
The Avengers celebrate various “birthdays” — Bruce, Hulk, Thor, Steve, Natasha, Coulson, Pepper, Clint, Tony. Just a lovely read of a fic; no villains, no avenging. Just birthdays. ::hearts::
He wasn’t sure how he ended up taking Clint and Natasha home for his fifty-first birthday, except that after cluing into the fact that neither of them were celebrating theirs, at all, he thought it might explain certain things to them, without having to sit down and verbally explain them.
