(According to the 'National Day Calendar' website, it's National Cheesecake, Chili Dog, Climb a Mountain, Intern, Father-In-Law, Whistleblower, and Support Public Education Day. Now THAT'S a packed schedule!)

But I've decided to celebrate today as a cookie day for me, so that'll be fun! Now I just need to find some cookies! (I think there are some in the freezer?)

(PS: A cookie day means the answer to the question 'should I eat a cookie right now?' is always YES, COOKIES PLEASE)

According to my schedule, I am supposed to work Monday through Thursday this week. Based on the general 'holiday weekend + heat wave' energy of the week already (as of Monday at 8 am), I'm somehow doubting it will be a very productive week. But hopefully it will be a fun one!

Waaaaay back in yesteryear (uh, probably around 2015ish?) I found myself wanting to celebrate the unofficial start of summer holiday (aka Memorial Day), but also I am not ever (probably? I mean, I guess you never know what the future might hold) going to be a 'let's set up the grill and barbecue some stuff' kind of person. (I do not have a grill. I do not want a grill.)

So once I considered what I considered the most common Memorial Day holiday options and dismissed them for being not what I wanted to do, I decided that what I was actually interested in was more of a symbolic nod to the changing of the season.

And this year I brought back that symbolic celebration! Which means I got some honey barbecue potato chips and some s'mores-flavored cookies at the grocery store, and I'm having myself a feast!

(*lol this led me down a rabbit hole of trying to figure out if I was using the word 'circa' correctly, which is to say, if it worked as a funny joke about my recent realization of how long ago the year 2000 was. research was inconclusive, but it made me laugh, so I'll take that as a win)

Behold, a holiday! Looks like this one is a good day to ::checks notes:: eat chocolate. I have already eaten chocolate today, so I'm pretty sure that means I'm WINNING this holiday!

Happy Ides of March!

As of TODAY, I have opened the final door of my Christmas advent calendar! Very exciting day!

(It's a 24-day calendar, but it's supposed to have enough coffee for "a pot of coffee" per day, which is like three days worth of coffee for me, and sometimes I have coffee at work instead if it's an office day, so... yeah, it took a while.)

Looks like they've put out their spring flavors already, but I think I learned my lesson on those last year. I got a couple bags of my favorite autumn flavors in the cupboard, so that's my plan for the post-Christmas coffees.

Back in 2017 I made up the Christmas socks tradition (aka I get myself a new pair of socks for Christmas). I haven't exactly followed it every year, because some years I haven't really needed/wanted any more socks, and some years I wound up buying socks not at Christmas.

But this year! This year, I have new socks for Christmas! Mmm, warm cozy socks. What a nice thing to be able to celebrate today!
