operation: midnight chicken

marcicatbackground: According to the internet, one way to integrate a chicken into an existing flock is to (not even kidding) put the chicken into the coop while they’re all asleep. When they wake up in the morning, bam! Instant flock/friendship.
serious!doubt: No one in my family *actually* thought this would work. On the other hand, why not try it? They weren’t getting along already; it seemed like sneaking them together was unlikely to make things worse.
action!element: I got home from work yesterday to hear that Operation Midnight Chicken was a go (actually, it was more like 9:30). As of this morning, it’s a sort of ‘so far, so good’ level of success. I wouldn’t say instant friendship, exactly, but they’re not fighting.
WHO KNEW???
