movie review: The Big Year

First of all, this is a movie about competitive birding.

That was pretty much my reaction. BUT! More specifically, it’s a movie with Jack Black, Steve Martin, and Owen Wilson engaged in competitive birding.

Better, right?

Although I couldn’t help thinking ‘I’d rather be watching The Avengers’ (man, that movie better be good!), I liked “The Big Year.” I’m not sure I want to watch it again, at least not right away, but it was good. Also, funny. And it had a nice message, which — while not entirely heartwarming — made me think and made me smile, and my family liked it, so extra points for that!
