The first anniversary of Steve’s father’s death falls on a Friday; Danny’s had the date marked in his phone for months, with an appointment note attached that just reads “!!!”. He’s glad of the reminder, glad he took the time to figure out how setting them worked, even though he wouldn’t have needed it–Steve gets testier and testier, the short fuse on his insanity growing ever shorter as the day approaches.

back from exile

So I spent yesterday at our “second location.” Affectionately known as… okay, it has no affectionate name. It’s just the other store.

[Unrelated Note:
In a sign of my unfortunately lackluster sense of spatial orientation, I refer to moving things between the stores as up, down, and over (send it up, ship it down, toss it over, etc) with no regard for their actual relationship to each other on a map.]

It was not a vacation, except how it kind of was. Like a vacation to Siberia (it *was* cold, come to think of it). It’s nice, in the way that you are somewhere different, and that has an intriguing sense of newness to it. But at the same time, you can’t wait to come home.

The trouble is, there’s nothing to do most of the time, and not enough space to do it in when there’s three(!) people “working.” And then, of course, it’s combined with that odd guest-like feeling of being in someone else’s domain.

Clearly, I have mixed feelings about the whole project.
