song lyrics accidental remix
Sep. 14th, 2011 09:21 pmThe song ‘Just To See You Smile’ by Tim McGraw is not exactly on any top ten lists when it comes to confusing lyrics. But the other day I was in the car, singing along, and suddenly it hit me — I’d had it wrong all this time!
Okay, some background. It’s a fun song to sing, right? But I always thought the chorus went like this:
I’d never count the cost
It’s worth all the ex-laws
Just to see you smile
Which made perfect sense to me — like, they were married, and then they broke up, so his in-laws became ex-laws. Which would be awkward for anyone, clearly.
The actual lyrics are:
I’d never count the cost
It’s worth all that’s lost
Just to see you smile
Which I guess also makes sense, though it doesn’t seem quite as clever.
