Netflix has inadvertently brought some humor to my night. When I realized they were sending me *Chicken Little* as my next dvd (not that I have anything against Chicken Little, it’s just not perhaps what I would have chosen if I’d been paying any attention to my queue), I figured I should go add some (better) stuff.

I usually try to add movies as soon as I see a preview and think, ‘huh, that looks okay.’ Because otherwise I forget about them, and am left with that nagging feeling that I wanted to see something, but can’t remember what it was.

Which is all a very long way of saying: I added “We Bought A Zoo” to my saved dvds, because I saw a preview tonight and it looked, you know, heartwarming, or whatever. And netflix likes to be all helpful and recommend “Similar titles available to watch instantly.” Normally I cast my eye over them and move along, but this time I did a double take.

Here is the my summary for “We Bought A Zoo” — Family buys zoo. Wacky kid and animal hijinks ensue. Tears likely shed. Heartwarming family flick.

What movies does netflix think I might like, based on my selection?

1. “Twilight Time” — an “affecting drama” about Yugoslavia

2. “Iron Man 2″ — not disputing that this was a movie I liked, I’m still not sure about the connection to the zoo movie, unless it’s that Scarlett Johansson is in both of them (true!)

Netflix, what’s up with that? Usually your suggestions are less… random. On the other hand, the question of what to post about tonight? Answered!
