marcicat: (moon and stars)

I was reminded this weekend that I did actually watch ‘Ant-Man,’ and should probably post up a review. I didn’t love it.

Scott Lang: if he’s so smart, why did he go for Falcon’s wings instead of his goggles?

Hank Pym: proving once again that you don’t need to pick between weird and creepy. Why not go for both?

Hope van Dyne: 10,000% did not buy the ‘Hank doesn’t want you to wear the suit because he wants you to be safe’ argument. So… she’s just going to be the lynchpin of the entire plan *without* any armor or powers?

Paxton (the cop step-dad): honestly could not get over the fact that he played Guy in ‘Annie.’ Kept interpreting everything he did as significantly more smarmy.

Maggie (the mom): why did she have no role in this movie?

The ants: okay, let’s talk about the ants for a second. Are the ants slaves? Did they volunteer? Because I was actually doing okay with the whole ‘hey ants, I really need your help here to defeat this bad guy,’ but it turned out I was super not okay with ‘lol watch me make them put sugar cubes in my coffee because I control them with my brain.’

Theme: was this a heist movie? An action movie? Superhero origin story movie? Redemption arc movie? Because it kind of felt like none of those.

Lastly: JANET VAN DYNE WAS THE BEST AND SHE WAS THE ONLY THING I WAS LOOKING FORWARD TO WHEN ‘ANT-MAN’ WAS ORIGINALLY ANNOUNCED AND ALL I WANT IS FOR HER TO COME BACK AND BE AMAZING AND JOIN THE AVENGERS.
