When I saw that Christmas is on a Wednesday this year, I sort of figured that whole week would be a write-off in terms of the workplace. Even people who actually went to work probably wouldn't be doing much -- in the wise words of the Muppet Christmas Carol, "they'll be no one to do business with!"

I didn't realize or expect how much of a write-off THIS week would be. Ah well, at least I have a project I can tell people I'm working on. (And I am! Just not, maybe, with quite as much dedication as my words to my coworkers might imply.)

Today we're having a holiday lunch, which is nice, and then (based on careful interpretation of what people put on their public calendars), we're either all getting fired, or the executives are going to hand out Christmas cards. (Literally just a card. The company doesn't 'believe' in holiday bonuses.) Probably it's the card? But I've been wrong a lot this year.
