workaday Wednesday
Aug. 26th, 2020 05:44 amTime to participate in 'workplace skill building'!
(aka 'personal development'! Except my workplace has a real love for re-naming things, so it's called something else, but no one can ever remember what. This led to a great moment when I asked my boss if I could participate and they were all, 'yeah, of course, definitely, make sure you put a note in that section, the -- uh, you know.')
((We have work the workplace calls an 'ongoing review' system, which is just a website where we can leave notes on our stated goals and the various nebulous skills the company has decided are important this year. Conceptually it seems quite useful, though in reality it mostly seems to be intended to push some of the work of employee reviews onto employees themselves, which is, in a word, CLASSIC.))
(((I assured my boss that I did know. I do not, but I am relatively confident that one of us knew at some point, and put a note about a different training in there, so I'm just going to cheat off my past self.)))
