In January 2020, I wrote (in my paper journal): "Goal for the year -- find some strategies to make my worrying more manageable <3"

In a truly 2020 turn of events, what actually happened was that the way I feel all the time (fretful, overwhelmed, occasionally consumed with a vague sense of dread) was declared totally normal and okay due to ::gestures at 2020:: which sure was a surprise. Still not quite sure what to make of it, but it did sometimes reduce the feeling that I was supposed to be doing better. We all got a pass last year! That sure was something.

In January 2021, I wrote: "For 2021: being gentle with myself; finishing the year stronger than I start it; communicating my expectations!"

(Look at that exclamation point! I was so excited! I wrote that yesterday! I am already impressed by past-me's enthusiasm.)
