how far we've come
Feb. 18th, 2021 05:54 am*Last March, my workplace told us that all the 'office' employees were going to work from home for two weeks.
*By July, we were allowed to schedule a time to go in and pack up stuff from our desks. (Just checked back, and apparently we were told at the time that it was so they could do intensive cleaning. Ahahahaha that was not true.)
*Yesterday I got an email forwarded to me by my boss that said, essentially, 'we've given someone else your desk, so we need to clear out any of your stuff so they can have a nicer workspace.' (Some people are still required to be on-site.)
((With as much tact as I could manage at the time, which was admittedly not very much, I let my boss know that I had picked my desk clean of anything that was A) mine, B) arguably mine, and C) something I wanted that I thought no one would bother to fight me about if I took it. And that anything that remained belonged to the company, so if they thought it wasn't a nice workspace that was really on them and not me.))
(((Okay, what I actually said was, 'Thanks for letting me know! All my stuff was cleaned out during the summer, so it should be all set.' But I think the sentiment was there.)))
