workaday Wednesday
Mar. 30th, 2022 05:50 amIn today's episode of 'what in the world is my workplace doing' (subtitle: I don't know and at this point I'm scared to ask), it's LUNCH AND LEARN day!
Waaaaaaaaaaaaay back, so long ago it has been lost to the mists of time (okay, it was still happening in 2014, so not *that* long ago), company "lunch and learns" used to include -- get this! -- an actual free lunch. (I know; it was a different time.)
Nowadays they like to pretend that the name was only ever meant to indicate a 'general time of day' and they graciously 'allow' employees to eat lunch (as long as they provide it themselves) during the presentation, if they so choose. Today's event includes a New Twist: they've announced (::cough:: warned) us ahead of time that it will include an "interactive" component.
This component requires us to have an orange object, a blue object, a green object, and a pink object, which we will be asked to hold up to the camera at various points. I am baffled and befuddled, but also delightfully intrigued -- what corporate shenanigans are we about to be subjected to??? Are we talking 'could have been an episode of The Office' level, or 'remember that year they made us do field day' level???
Also, I picked catnip mice for my objects, because I happened to have some in all those colors. I feel it's the perfect combination of 'sure, I'm participating' and 'I care more about my cat than this webinar.'
