more kitchen raktajino adventures
Jan. 26th, 2026 07:54 amDAY 2:
*1/2 tsp of roasted garlic powder (I found some measuring spoons I was willing to wash! the half-teaspoon was the smallest size available)
*1 drop liquid smoke (I now own far too much liquid smoke)
*somewhere between 1/2 and 1 tsp of molasses
Notes on day 2:
*This was unexpectedly delicious! (perhaps worth noting that I really like garlic)
*Having said that, 1/2 a teaspoon of garlic powder was probably too much -- the flavor wasn't bad, but the bottom of the mug had a lot of leftover garlic that I wound up swallowing all at once, which was not a great texture experience.
*I didn't find a dropper, but I do now have two different bottles of liquid smoke. (I ordered one online, but then it wasn't scheduled to arrive until the 28th, so I found an alternative at the grocery store, but THEN the online order arrived super early, and yeah -- now I have two. Luckily, one of them has a top that's easier to manage for things like '1 drop.')
*Today I learned that rum is commonly made from molasses. I feel like that's another good argument for including molasses in non-alcoholic kitchen raktajino.
*Also I tried it without the molasses first, and it wasn't quite weird enough. The molasses helped.
*Next I'll try bringing the ginger back into the mix. And maybe TWO drops of liquid smoke?
