workplace gifting
Dec. 17th, 2015 07:53 amGifts at the workplace — there’s always a certain potential for disaster, which makes the prevalence of the ‘workplace yankee swap’ particularly interesting.
Last year, we did a team “party” and swap, so it was really only ten people or so, and it was themed — had to be an “As Seen On TV” product. Which turned out to be pretty fun! [Note to self: themed yankee swaps = good idea.]
This year the “holiday luncheon” (for the whole building) includes an “optional” yankee swap. So we’re talking a potential of several dozen people (I just tried to do a building headcount, but one of the departments is kind of confusing. More than 40 people, potentially? More likely significantly less than that, since lots of people are usually off-site). But that’s a group that includes everyone from the CEO down to us lowly phone minions.
Which seems like it will A) take forever, and B) have a higher-than-usual potential for disaster. We shall see!
[PS: My gift is soap. (Nice soap!)]
