I made some crock pot caramelized onions* over the weekend.  As I was getting out ingredients, I thought to myself, 'You know, you COULD use brown sugar.  But consider this: Honey Cinnamon.'  (Actual ingredients of the blend include granulated honey, cinnamon, and brown sugar.)

I'm... not entirely sure why I decided to make this substitution.  Okay, that's a lie; it's just that it's a dumb reason.  See, the brown sugar is sealed in a bag, and the cinnamon sugar is in a handy twist-top jar, making it ever-so-slightly easier to access.  And I kind of thought the brown sugar was mostly for color anyway?  'HOW MUCH OF A DIFFERENCE COULD IT MAKE,' I asked myself.

Hahaha.  Not gonna lie; it's a little weird.

It's not the flavor, exactly. But it SMELLS like cinnamon, which is a weird addition to just about anything you might want to add caramelized onions to.

It hasn't been enough to stop me from eating them, though. So there's that.

(*Cut up five onions, add to crock pot with 3 Tbsp butter, 1 tsp salt/garlic mix, 1 tsp brown sugar. Cook on low for at least 12 hours.)
