This movie could have been called “Robin Hood: the one with the mustaches and Uma Thurman.” I’m pretty sure that’s how I’ll remember it, at least. Watched it last night via netflix, and I may have to take back my prize for most over-dramatic death scene in the history of ever. (Previously awarded to Alan Rickman as the Sheriff in Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves.) New Winner: Jurgan Prochnow as Sir Miles Folcanet.

Highlights of Robin Hood: Mustaches and Uma Thurman (as compared to other versions of RH) –

1. Very much a Normans vs. Saxons story. (Which, really? Not what I was expecting.)

2. This movie’s version of the Sheriff (Baron Roger Daguerre) had an incredibly friendly appeal. I felt like he should be coaching a kids soccer team or something. Also, he and Will Scarlett were apparently the *only* characters in the movie capable of A) thinking ahead; and B) compromise. Way to go, Will and Roger! (LOVED their “reconciliation” scene at the end.)

3. There’s really no film in which a surprise!Sean Connery appearance goes amiss, but I didn’t mind the lack (of Sean Connery or King Richard) in this movie.
