the lonely work
Aug. 8th, 2021 06:52 amI was listening to some kind of work-related online presentation earlier this year -- I can't remember exactly what it was. Most things sponsored by work have a variably-disguised framing of 'remember, the most important thing is that the company makes a lot of money,' which can be off-putting.
But the thing that caught my ear in this particular presentation was that one of the speakers was describing a process of introspection, and they called it, "the lonely work."
Which, 1) wow, surprisingly poetic for a work presentation, kudos for that; 2) I'm not sure I agree, but I found it interesting to think about; and 3) it seems like that would make a great fic title.
[*I did look up the phrase "the lonely work" online, just in case it was one of those 'should've googled that' situations. It does show up in various places, but nothing that made me regret this post, so I'll call that a win.]
