The trouble with making a bunch of lead-in movies for the Avengers is that while the movies themselves are several years apart, the events must be happening near-simultaneously (unless you assume Bruce Banner has been twiddling his thumbs and meditating for a *really* long time).

Plus, as a casual movie-viewer but avid fanfic-reader, I have practically no recollection of what actually happened in these movies. Did Darcy ever even meet Clint? Is there a helicarrier yet?

And so, here is a handy timeline vid!

I first saw it on tumblr, where it was submitted by weaponxvii.

(As many have already noted, the “so and so turns into so and so” captions to indicate actor changes are particularly funny.)
