just think how easily it could be fixed!
Jan. 6th, 2022 06:08 amI finished 'Once Upon a Time in Lingjian Mountain' last night, and I enjoyed it very much! I, uh, have some questions? (And some mixed feelings, but I'm very glad I watched it and I had a lot of fun!)
*I spent 34 episodes thinking to myself 'I wonder how they're going to resolve this interesting and clever reincarnation plot?' only for the show to turn around and go 'what reincarnation plot?' Not cool, show. (ALTHOUGH according to a very brief internet search, it looks like the show is based on a book that DID do it as a reincarnation plot, and ended much more tragically. So, very cool, show?)
*There were women! None of the main character women perished, though I did not feel they got the character development they deserved. On the other hand, neither did most of the other characters. (We really missed a lot in those time skips!!!)
*Speaking of the time skips, what a gift! WHO KNOWS what happened during those years??? It could be anything!
*I really appreciated that we specifically saw the 'Golden Era' cultivators prioritizing a peaceful resolution (both in flashbacks and in the present day).
*The best part about having a main character who acknowledges the dramatic narrative of the story is that it makes perfect sense that he would notice the parallel storylines of the two generations. (And then go fix it!)
