marcicatMe (after waiting almost a month to see if my boss would mention anything without prompting): "So, the person who left -- do you know who's taking over their meeting?"
[I was tagged in to substitute-lead the meeting for a short time in the summer, and was 10,000% hoping I would be spared doing it again.]
Boss: "Oh yeah, I meant to talk to you about that." [long explanation of a conversation he had with his boss, ultimately leading to a conclusion of 'you're not taking over the meeting.']
Me (trying to sound appropriately grateful but not too much like leading the meeting would have been completely awful, even though it is literally referred to as 'everyone's least favorite meeting') : "That's great news!"
Boss: "Yeah, you're not doing that. [other person who has substitute-led the meeting in the past] will be leading them for now."
PS: So OBVIOUSLY as soon as we were done talking, I got in touch with the other person and was like 'my boss just told me you're taking the meeting.' And they were like 'what?! NO ONE EVER TELLS ME ANYTHING!' Which -- fair.
PPS: What does that even mean, 'you're not doing that'? I am relieved, and unsure if I should also be mildly insulted? But relieved!
