workaday Wednesday
Oct. 19th, 2022 06:13 amYesterday I had a long debate with myself about asking my boss whether the company is truly struggling, or if it's just the echo chamber of a lot of frustrated people all trying to make projects happen with the same limited resources. (I'm tempted to say I know less about what's happening internally now that I work from home, but to be honest, it was always pretty opaque.)
But when I logged on for our weekly check-in, the boss was like 'hey, I don't have much today, but I have to get the kids off the school bus in 8 minutes.' And I figured that was a little message from the universe letting me know it wasn't the moment to have that conversation.
(And really, what purpose would it serve? Sometimes more information doesn't provide more value. The start of the pandemic was definitely An Experience in reminding me that whatever I'm worried about re: the future, there's a good chance that the actual worrisome thing will be something completely different.)
