workaday Wednesday
Dec. 14th, 2022 06:03 amMy interim boss is leading a meeting today with all of the people reporting to him to talk about 2023 goals. On one level, this is a fascinating departure from years past -- we've always been instructed to set our goals based on the company goals presented by the executive team at company-wide meetings, but it's been a very solo activity. (Maybe people complained that it doesn't make sense? Adding another meeting would certainly be a classic reaction to that.)
On another level, it's totally silly, because the company only ever has one goal: to make money. There's really no need to talk about it every year. But this is my interim boss (hahaha we'll see if they ever hire someone to fill my former boss' role, or if it disappears in the name of cost savings), and it will be the first time I see him interact with all of us as a group.
Good news: interim boss couldn't find a time that worked to make us all show up in person, so this will be over zoom.
Bad news: it's at 4:00 in the afternoon??? Who does that???
