winter has begun

marcicatIt is officially the winter season! (Even though it has felt like winter for a while now, and once it's officially "spring" on March 20, it will continue to feel like winter for a while more.)
Winter is a great season for a lot of things, like not getting bitten by mosquitoes! Also, some local trails are a bit easier to navigate once the mud freezes! Of course, right now we have a high wind warning and a flood watch in the forecast, but *sometimes* winter is nice for being outside.
(Also, the phrase "locally significant flooding" is such an interesting one --it's amazing how well it communicates 'you're not going to make the news, but it could ruin your day.')
