May. 29th, 2023 07:27 amThe number of devices I have that came with a remote compared to the number of remotes I use / know the location of / know which device they match up with is sometimes alarming. (Only sometimes. Most of the time I ignore it.)
HOWEVER! Yesterday was SO HOT and last night was also SO HOT (at least when I went to bed), so I pulled out my fan and set it up. And when I was headed for bed, I thought to myself 'you know what would be great, would be a remote, so I could turn the fan off later without getting out of bed!' And then I thought, 'wait... didn't this fan COME with a remote???'
And there were, perhaps, a few seconds of despair as my brain worked through recalling that yes, there had been a remote, and no, I hadn't seen it recently. But THEN I remembered gently poking fun at the fact that the fan company built in a little remote-holder into the back of the fan itself. When I bought the fan, this seemed like a silly feature -- after all, when the fan is in regular use, why would you want the remote attached to it? That's the opposite of the point of a remote!
So, Honeywell Quietset Tower Fan designers, I apologize, and I thank you for your foresight -- you were right, and I was wrong. Last night when I longed for a remote, there it was! Tucked into the back of the fan like a beacon of welcome convenience. How clever! How helpful!
(Also, yes, it is so great to be able to turn the fan off without getting out of bed.)
