pumpkin season!
Sep. 24th, 2023 07:11 amWhen we first moved here (2021) it was summer, so the first 'big' holiday was Halloween, and the area around us went ALL OUT. And I was like 'oh, people around here must really be into decorating for holidays! can't wait to see what they'll do for Christmas!'
As it turns out, it's really just Halloween. There are plenty of decorations for other holidays, but not like the massive efforts made for Halloween. Some houses started celebrating the spooky season in early September, and there are already FOUR giant-skeleton-like-things (one might be a ghoul? and one has a pumpkin head?) within neighborhood walking distance.
(To be fair: one of the skeletons is more of a year-round thing, which seasonal accessories for different times of year.)
My favorite thing is that apparently dragons are part of Halloween now, which is a brilliant addition. Also: pumpkins. Decorative gourds of all kinds, really. So today we're going to go get some!
