Work sure is something! I've had three managers (so far!) in my current job, not counting the interim one. Boss 1 would surely have sold my soul for one (1) corn chip, but with a sort of impersonal ruthlessness that I could respect in a cautionary tale sort of way.
(Through a series of events that could only happen in the corporate world, they told the company that they didn't want to be a manager, so the company stopped paying them to do management but left them in the managerial role for a WHILE. That sure was something!)
Boss 2 was my favorite so far, because we both understood that we would benefit from making each other look good. They were an unexpectedly effective manager, but (for reasons I probably owe it to my stress level not to guess at) they wound up leaving. That also sure was a thing!
Boss 3 remains an enigma. I'm uncertain if they have any idea what I do at all -- I'm sure they would say they do, broadly speaking. (To be fair, I have very little idea what they do either!) At the moment they seem pretty checked out of the management side of things, but (I think!) we're still not in corn chip territory, so I'll call things 'tentatively okay.' (This is fine!)
