crochet update: just change the stitch

A while back I started a lightweight yarn blanket (okay, it's a 4 weight yarn, so more like 'medium' than 'lightweight'). Using the knotted half-double crochet, which is a fun stitch, and I got through three skeins of yarn (big skeins! 480 yard skeins! which in that yarn and stitch was about... 8 inches of blanket per skein).
ANYWAY I got a little bored after three skeins. Bored enough that I 'took a break' and made an entire other blanket (my corner-to-corner experiment, lol).
BUT I also got some new colors of yarn for the first blanket, and was mostly excited to start back up on it. And then I got VERY excited when it finally occurred to me that I could just... change the stitch. No need to keep doing knotted half-double crochets the whole time!
I realize that this was a pretty obvious solution to making the project more interesting to work on, but it took me a while to come up with it, so I figured I'd write it down in case my future-self is scrolling back for some inspiration someday. Change the stitch! There's absolutely no need to grit your way through another who-knows-how-many skeins of something that's not bringing joy and delight.
