marcicatIt turned out that in my simple 18-point plan for the story, points 3-6 and points 7-10 were, uh, basically describing the same section of story? Which is fine! But I've been feeling a little bogged down by it, so I've defaulted to my EVEN SIMPLER 5-POINT PLAN.
1 - everyone ends up in the nebula
2 - they escape the nebula
3 - stuff starts happening on their ship
4 - they go back to the nebula
5 - mission accomplished!
This plan is GREAT because I have achieved 'everyone ends up in the nebula' in the first 10,000 words of the story, and now I am VERY CLEARLY in the 'escape the nebula' part of the story, which it looks like I should plan to drag out for another 5,000 words or so. (It's a looooooooong escape.)
(PS: every time I look at the five point plan, my brain ABSOLUTELY brings up Tom Cardy's It's Dino Time song about the Jurassic Park movies. 'Let's never go back to dinosaur island!')
