In the spirit of ‘writing something (short) the month after NaNo will keep me from going insane and eating endless packages of Oreo cookies while reading fanfic’ (maybe that’s just me), starandrea and I had a holiday short-off. (She totally won, with the awesome Strange As It Seems (There’s Been A Run Of Crazy Dreams), but only if you assume that musicals are inherently holiday-themed.)

I wrote Four Gifts the 5-0s Gave Each Other for Christmas, which was going to be a five things fic until I realized I couldn’t think of a fifth thing. Four works too, right? In the spirit of keeping things brief, and all. (Final word count: 1560.)

It looked like the standard annual interview about holiday safety — celebrate responsibly, don’t drink and drive, report any illegal fireworks, that sort of thing. The governor had ‘volunteered’ 5-0 for the task, strongly suggesting that their public image could benefit from some media coverage that didn’t involve property damage or road closings. (Steve agreed graciously, but it was Danny who’d picked the short straw.)
