I was feeling a little worked up about the whole ‘no special features for my blu-ray-less self,’ and then I realized, wait! The fans have totally got this under control. So here is my list of fanfic alternatives to the Avengers movie extras.

1. (Avengers Second Screen Experience)
This one took me the longest to decide, but I’m going with Secret Identities, by copperbadge, because it is, in essence, the background stories of the Avengers team — made up character insights in spades!

2. (Marvel One-Shot: Item 47)
I like to imagine that Item 47 is Darcy’s ipod. In honor of that: And Taking Names, by luckywitch. (Darcy goes looking for her ipod and finds Agent Barton along with it. Start of a longer series which I have not yet read!)

3. (A Visual Journey)
I’m not actually sure what “A Visual Journey” is all about, but I picked Ready, Fire, Aim, by gyzym, because it includes a scene where Tony and Steve superimpose a sketch of Steve’s Brooklyn over a digital representation of modern day Brooklyn. Ta-da! A visual journey!

4. (Gag Reel)
While not technically a gag reel, Team Building Activities, by valtyr, does include Steve playing Farmville (along with 25 SHIELD agents assigned to the task), which I found hilarious.

5. (Music Video)
A music video gives you one song. The Only John Wayne Left in This Town, by gyzym, gives you many songs, plus Clint moonlighting as a country music sensation!

6. (Alternate Opening – Maria Hill Interrogation)
SHIELD Has Paperwork for Everything, by scifigrl47. It’s pre-movie, Maria Hill does a quasi-interrogation, it features Natasha, Clint, and Phil — WIN.

7. (Extended Scene – Loki & Barton Strategize)
Not an exact match, but I vote for Barton and Coulson strategizing about team building (5 Scenes to Build a Team, by Perpetual Motion (perpetfic)). Because that would have been an AWESOME scene.

8. (Steve Rogers – Man Out of Time)
So many choices on this one! I’m going with one that goes one step further — switching up EVERYONE’S timeline! Some Sunny Day, by valtyr. Bonus: it includes Nick Fury saying, “Your aspersions on my eyepatch have been noted.”

9. (Nick Fury & World Security Council)
Too much WSC! I’d have like to have seen this instead: 64 Colors, by victoria_p (musefool). It features Darcy, the Avengers, and coloring books. What’s not to love?

10. (Extended Viaduct Fight Scene – Raw Footage)
I’m not sure what the, uh, “viaduct fight scene” actually was. How about a missing scene AU featuring Spiderman? The Spider-Man Cameo (That Will Not Happen), by kahn.

11. (Fury & Hill Discuss the World Security Council)
In Got to Do What You Love, by BlackEyedGirl, Phil and Maria discuss fantasy Avengers teams. More interesting than the WSC?

12. Extended Scene – Banner and Security Guard
It has pantsless Bruce, and honestly, I would rather have more Natasha than more Security Guard. what a way to make a living, by Siria — Bruce and Natasha, and emergency post-transformation pants.

13. (Alternate Ending – Maria Hill Interrogation)
Again, SO MANY CHOICES! well, let the drum beat drop, by jonesandashes and pollyrepeat, includes bonus #coulsonlives and multiple Avengers leaping out a window. Maria Hill gets a cameo, so I’m counting it.
