Decent beginning, odd middle, weak ending.

Good things: I liked that it passed the Bechdel test, and with multiple people, too. For the most part, I liked Snow White, though I thought the movie veered wildly in depicting her capabilities. I liked Robin!Hood!William, and thought his ‘find the good guys by hiding with the bad guys’ strategy was pretty clever, though perhaps not *quite* as well thought-out as one might have wished.

Odd things: Not really much of a Sanctuary if the bad guys can find it, is it? Also, I have no idea why William and the Huntsman (Eric? is that his canon name, or is that a fanon thing?) didn’t just sleep on either side of Snow, preferably touching her. One, it would be a lot warmer. Two, maybe they would wake up *before* she wandered off!

Disappointing things: Um, the ending? After the whole “I will be your weapon, who will fight with me as my brothers” speech, I was expecting something a little more regal than awkward silence as a post-coronation finale.

Final thoughts: I would have much rather skipped the entire first 45 minutes or so (it’s not like we’re not familiar with the basic outline of the Snow White fairytale, right?) and tacked those onto the end of the movie. I want to see what happens next! (As long as it’s not more awkward silence.)
