1. I spent yesterday in a happy spiral of ‘I should post something’ – ‘maybe a fic rec’ – ‘I should read something that I could rec.’ Hours of reading, not any posting.

2. The car situation is still frustratingly in limbo. Also, it’s really irritating when you’re actually waiting for a phone call, because then you have to pick up the phone when it rings, and usually it’s a telemarketer.

3. Speaking of telemarketers, we’ve been seeing an upsurge in calls lately. I’ve started just hanging up when I hear the call center noise in the background. I’m trying to work up the gusto to start a sales pitch of my own in that pause while they switch back to my line. (Note: To anyone who might call me — if you’re somewhere crowded, like a train station, or something, and I hang up on you, sorry in advance. Call right back, okay?)

Last weekend, when I was going through all my untagged bookmarks over at pinboard, I came across this:

Kind of the Same Way, by trinipedia
“When Clay Miller, the US President, goes into a coma, Jared Padalecki, a sweet-natured and caring Temp Agency operator who by a staggering coincidence looks exactly like the President, finds himself stuck in the role indefinitely. The corrupt and manipulative Chief of Staff, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, plans to use Jared to elevate himself to the White House, but he doesn’t count on Jared enjoying himself in office, using his luck and friends to make the country a better place and falling in love with the President’s personal assistant, Jensen Ackles.”

WHAT? It’s a J2 AU based on the movie Dave — what could be more awesome? (Only if they also sing ‘The Sun Will Come Out Tomorrow’ — that would make my day.) But I don’t know if they sing it, because I still haven’t read it!

It was… very British. Sort of ‘Harry Potter, but without magic, or dark wizards.’ But fun! Easy to watch, though I did worry about them getting found out all the time. It was one of those movies where I sort of thought, ‘Hey, I wonder why they made that?’ Not much happened, but it was basically a nice way to spend an hour and a half.

In a word: watchable.
