#####

As a month, April seemed to go on FOREVER, and not in a good way. Right now it’s May… [checks calendar] 12, and it feels like the month is clipping right along. My goal is to still feel like that two weeks from now.

#####

Tomorrow is Mother’s Day — traditionally, a day fraught with tension, tears, and shouting. (Why do we have so much trouble with this holiday at my house? I have NO IDEA. But it’s an eggshell day, that’s for sure.) My goal is to get through the day without tears OR shouting. (Lofty, I know, but aim high, right?)

#####

Currently my April fic AprilMay fic is at 3600 words. My goal is to hit 4000 by the end of today.

#####

The number of days I’ve gone to bed before eleven in the last nine days is, well, zero. (I tell myself and tell myself, but I never listen.) My goal is to go nine for nine for the next nine days.

In particular, comics fandom fanfic. Because comics “canon” tends to be so wonky anyway, there’s just so much wiggle room. You want someone to have a twin? Done! You want someone to be a telepathic shapeshifting clone from an alternate dimension in the future? Done!

I love comics fandom fanfic because it’s really easy to get huge variety. Like, in Harry Potter fandom, you have to figure at least fifty percent of the fic is going to deal with defeating Voldemort. But in X-Men fandom, who *knows* what might happen! Magneto might be a bad guy, or a good guy, or teaching at the school but still be morally kinda dubious, or have amnesia, or not even be mentioned!

Also, I love that I never feel like I need to explain how a situation came about in a comics fanfic. Like, if I ever wrote an Avengers fic where they had a moon base, I would feel no need at all to explain why or how. It would just be ‘bam! moon base!’ (This is a fandom where in actualfax canon the team keeps winding up in a land populated by dinosaurs, apparently mostly by accident. A moon base would be small potatoes for them.)

In short: Comics fandom — the ultimate handwave.
