movie review: This Means War
Jun. 24th, 2012 09:56 pmHere’s my conceptual confusion about this movie: all of the people who work for this spy organization (granted, I can only say this for sure about the ones we see *doing* anything) should be fired. All of them. Terrible at justice, or whatever it is they’re supposed to be spying for.
And then there’s my character confusion: I’m pretty sure the movie ended wrong. I thought it was going for a sort of gender!swapped “10 Things I Hate About You” vibe, except that I’m still not clear how Heath Ledger ended up with Bianca instead of Kat. (I fast-forwarded a little, so maybe I missed that part?)
And finally, acting confusion: Okay, so this movie had Chris Pine (who managed to convincingly sell ‘just mind-melded with my ancient best friend from an alternate dimension’ AND ‘green-screen Romulan fight’ in Star Trek). And it had Tom Hardy (who successfully portrayed, like, three different people in Inception). *And* it had Reese Witherspoon, who managed to turn Legally Blonde into a movie successful enough to get a sequel. So — how come This Means War was SO INCREDIBLY DULL?
Anyway, I didn’t like it. Also, I thought it should have been rated R, but that’s pretty much par for the course with me. Eh, better luck next time, hopefully.
