::disappointment::
Oct. 5th, 2012 11:19 am(I almost titled this post “this is why people steal things,” but that seemed mean.)
LET ME EXPLAIN
1. I saw Avengers four times in the theater. And one of those was IMAX, so that was a serious chunk of change for movie viewings.
2. I loved it!
3. I have 627 links tagged “avengers!verse” on pinboard. I like things that go beyond the movie!
4. It seems like a natural, then, that I would buy the dvd. I was very excited to buy it, even. I bought ONE movie this year, and it was Avengers.
5. I even went ahead and got the FOUR DISC SET, because that way I could get: a digital copy! music! and OF COURSE the extended scenes, gag reel, and all the other promised goodies.
6. There’s one thing I don’t have, though. A Blu-Ray player.
7. Turns out that’s a problem for Marvel, apparently. Because they put all the extra features I wanted and thought I was paying for on the Blu-Ray disc:
-Avengers Second Screen Experience
-Marvel One-Shot: Item 47
-A Visual Journey
-Gag Reel
-Music Video
-Alternate Opening – Maria Hill Interrogation
-Extended Scene – Loki & Barton Strategize
-Steve Rogers – Man Out of Time
-Nick Fury & World Security Council
-Extended Viaduct Fight – Raw Footage
-Fury & Hill Discuss the World Security Council
-Extended Scene – Banner and Security Guard
-Alternate Ending – Maria Hill Interrogation
8. I’d like to reiterate. NONE of those are available to anyone using a dvd player or computer optical drive. NONE. Only Blu-Ray. A fact which is not entirely clear from the Amazon page comparing the options. (Though now, of course, the reviewers have made it known!)
9. In conclusion: I probably would have bought the dvd anyway, just to get the movie, because I liked the movie. Would watch again. (Obviously.) But man, I really wanted those special features.
