It seems fitting to get in one more ‘oh work’ post before the end of the year. Today was the day for Ice Adventures. The building is getting new siding, but the project has been held up by rain, holidays, and, most recently, snow. (Lots of snow.)
Which is really just my way of saying we currently have no gutters. (Or siding.) What we have is lots of dripping. Water drips between the awning and the door, freezing on the cement in *front* of the door — our sidewalk. (Which we can’t put salt on because it hasn’t been somethingsomething — I usually stop listening at that point in the explanation, anyway.)
So it’s hard to open the door from the outside, but worse, it means the door sticks coming closed again, and gets stuck open a teeny, tiny amount. Yeah, and then when the water drips, it drips on the INSIDE of the door. Today the inside handle of the door almost completely iced over, I spent way too much time yanking the door shut — or open, depending, and we were all a little worried about what it’s going to look like come tomorrow morning. (On the plus side, no flooding right now!)
I have never in my life felt the lack of gutters so strongly.
