Yuletide

Yuletide 2012 (apparently Yuletide is the short version of “While We Tell of Yuletide Treasure Fanfiction Challenge,” which I definitely did not remember) is like a vortex.

A vortex that eats time. Have a few days to spare? Yuletide is awesome!

Have lots of work to do? Yuletide is still awesome, but may cause side effects of self-recriminations and reminders that since the New Year hasn’t started yet, your resolution to not stay up so late doesn’t really apply.

Calvin & Hobbes continues to be a Yuletide star for me. (Technically this one is Hobbes & Bacon, but they’re all the same fandom family to me, I guess.)

“Look,” he said, “I’ll give her a talk about group-based consensual perception and community based ideas of reality, okay? That should help.”

I really wanted to do a ‘year in review’ kind of post, but I got a little bogged down. It was a busy year! So here’s my year in pictures — the first picture I posted each month.

I was supposed to be getting ‘The Big Year’ so my family could watch it again, but somehow ended up with ‘Tower Heist’ instead. Which — they’re not really that similar, actually.

I vaguely remembered the preview for ‘Tower Heist.’ Said preview left me with the Strong Impression that the money was hidden under the pool. (I was Very Confident of this as I watched.) Which left me unsurprised by the fact that there was no money in the safe, and confused about why they never found the money under the pool. (Spoiler: there isn’t any.)

Also, I liked the FBI agent. I did not agree that the plan was a good one. They *worked in the building.* They had ALL THE ACCESS. Then they got themselves fired for no reason and had to do loads of work to get back to where they could have been so easily.

Seriously, I think this movie may have been made as a teaching tool — when you get mad, get smart, not violent.
