silver lining
Jun. 3rd, 2014 08:02 pmYesterday was kind of a hard day at work. One of those Mondays when I got halfway through the afternoon and wanted to throw my hands up in the air and announce, “I cannot. Just no.” My ability to can was nowhere to be found.
BUT!
In the darkness of the depths of Monday did shine a silver lining. OUR ROBOT TRASH CAN STARTED WORKING!
In the bathroom, there is a trash can. It is a robot. Actually, it just has a (supposedly) automatic cover. There are buttons that say Open and Close that I’ve never gotten to do anything. Typically the cover is just open.
On Monday afternoon, the cover was closed. I reached for it, and it OPENED ALL ON ITS OWN. I tossed in my paper towel, naturally entranced by this new spectacle. And the cover closed itself! (It probably goes without saying that I then repeated the process several times. For science.)
I’m still not sure what the purpose of the buttons is, since they seem superfluous. Either it’s working (rare), and you don’t need the buttons, or it’s not (usually), and the buttons don’t do anything. So there’s that.
In conclusion: Thank you, robot trash can, for brightening my Monday!
