The JACKALOPE. At first I was doubtful about including an animal that is not so much mythical as ‘made up as a lark to fleece tourists.’ But it turns out the jackalope has a rich history of ridiculousness, actual mythological shout-outs, and a Pixar short film! (At least according to the internet.)

Plus, this: “In 2005, the state legislature of Wyoming considered a bill to make the jackalope the state’s official mythological creature.”

(Because really, what state *doesn’t* need an official mythological creature?)

And so, the jackalope:

I kinda feel like this Pixar jackalope is unimpressed. I know that feel, buddy.

the jackalope spoke truth

The jackalope’s unimpressed expression turned out to be an excellent predictor of the day as a whole.

On a work-day scale of one to ten (where one is ‘basically a work-cation’ and ten is ‘wtf was that I didn’t even get a bathroom break’), last Friday was a one. Maybe a two. Sadly, that meant that yesterday was more like an eleven.

Also, my boss was all ‘it was your fault the group met upstairs instead of downstairs for the meeting last Friday.’ (And then *I* was all ‘well, I’m sorry, but I’ve worked here for less than two months, so I’m pretty sure I’m not actually the decision-maker when you’re not here…’) Which is sort of true, but in any case was probably not my most tactful declaration ever.

(tl;dr summary — Mondays: just generally bad.)
