marcicat: (anteater)

Monday morning, five minutes out from home, and I heard a little ding from my car. LOW WASHER FLUID. (My car uses all caps, apparently everything is SUPER IMPORTANT when you’re a car.) The warning was accompanied by an orange triangle with an exclamation point in it, along with the aforementioned ding.

I figured, hey, not great timing, but it’s cool. I’ll take care of it. At some point. Possibly the weekend.

Well. My car has apparently taken it upon itself to VERY DILIGENTLY remind me of this SUPER IMPORTANT situation regarding the LOW WASHER FLUID. With no rhyme or reason, the warning disappears (briefly) and then ding! It’s back. LOW WASHER FLUID.

Note: This is very distracting. And really, the absolute number one time that I’m not going to be able to do anything about the situation is while I’m actively driving! I’ve started talking back to it now. “Is this an emergency? Is there a crisis? Do I need to pull over? Because if not, stop dinging!”

I really wish my car would just send me an email, or text me, or something. I mean, some of the warning lights are actually critically time-sensitive, I get that. The WHEEL FALLING OFF light, for instance. (I do not know if that is a real thing.) Also, the CAR ON FIRE light. But low washer fluid seems like less of an immediate situation.

I will admit I am not 100% looking forward to two more days of dinging.
