workaday Wednesday
Sep. 3rd, 2014 06:50 amA while ago (yeah, I’m not awesome with time — maybe May? June?) we did a thing at work: Time Allocation Spreadsheets. I was new, so I was vague on the why. My guess at this point is that it was part of someone’s metrics.
(This is a perfect answer for why almost anything happens at my workplace. ‘Why are we doing this training?’ ‘Why are we tracking this data?’ ‘Why do we need signs telling us to only use one paper towel?’ BECAUSE METRICS, THAT’S WHY.)
Anyway, we were supposed to track our time at work for a month. Most of us did. My work!neighbor kept forgetting (or possibly “forgetting.”) And apparently hoped that perhaps this task would pass her by. Not so much, as it turns out. She’s doing it now, as a sort of ‘make-up assignment.’ (Why? BECAUSE METRICS.)
Which was really just a long lead-up to saying work’s been kind of tough recently, but at least I’m not doing a time allocation spreadsheet!
