car starter update
Jan. 21st, 2015 09:52 amThe Good:
When I start my car with my usual key, I have to leave the key in the ignition while I go back inside. The car won’t let me lock the doors (probably smart), so my car sits unlocked and running. Totally fine at home when it was in the driveway, more nerve-wracking when it’s in the apartment complex parking lot. When I use the remote car starter, the doors are locked, and you need to unlock them using the actual car starter or you get alarms.
The Bad:
“You get alarms” doesn’t really cover my experience last week. My coworker patiently sat in the parking lot with me for nearly ten minutes while I tried to figure out the magic sequence of *something* that would let me drive the car. (Lesson learned: you must lock and unlock the car with the starter if you want the magic to happen.) This would really be fine if it didn’t involve so much noise! (Two honks on the lock, three on the unlock, it’s very irritating.)
The Current Conclusion:
It’s a handy luxury, but it’s not an entirely luxurious one.
