marcicat: (snowy cat)

At my last performance review, my boss pointed out that I “send less swag” than my coworkers, and inquired if this was because I have a hard time “connecting” with people. (A leading question if I’ve ever heard one. I told her I just forget to put it on the document.)

But the key point is that this led to one of the most ridiculous Office Space-esque conversations I have ever had:

Me: “So, how much swag would be appropriate to send each month?”

Boss: “It’s not a set number, it’s more what you *feel* would be good.”

[Note: In this instance “swag” is stuff like free t-shirts, water bottles, etc]

[Note2: Obviously the boss is not correct, because in that case it would be clear that I just don’t *feel* like sending as much free stuff as my coworkers, and that would be that.]

However, this has led to me just picking store employees or anyone who’s address I might have and randomly sending them swag unasked for. Because who doesn’t love a surprise gift?
