My workplace has started a book club. (It is fascinating to me that a group of people who *constantly* talk about having so many demands on their time that they can’t even check email until late in the day think that adding ‘read a 200+ page book’ to their list is a good idea.)

Anyway, I’ve signed up. Because even though I don’t particularly want to do it, I also don’t particularly *not* want to do it, and I try to pad my workplace participation points with things I at least don’t mind doing, so that I can more easily get out of things like parties and after-hours socializing. It’s a careful math.
